Giovane promettente pugile, Uwe ha studiato letteratura ed economia alle Università di Colonia e Siegen.
Esordisce alla regia con la pellicola "House of the dead" (2003) a cui segono "Alone in the Dark" (2005) e "Postal" (2007) di cui ha curato anche la sceneggiatura.
